Podcast Rooms

Podcasting can take place anywhere on campus. We have established an automated mechanism for capture and publish from General Assignment Classrooms. For any other instructional space, we have portable recorders that can be used to capture the lecture audio. We will work with faculty on automating the publish part from their office computers.

General Assignment Classrooms:

Please follow this link for a complete list of general assignment classrooms: http://classrooms.ucr.edu. These rooms have PC computers that run the recording software. Multimedia staff simply needs to add wireless mics in rooms that do not have mics already. Steps:

  1. Request podcast for this course
  2. Wear and turn on the classroom wireless microphone.
  3. Turn on PC Computer (if not “on” already)

Non- General Assignment Classrooms:

These rooms include dept seminar rooms and conference rooms. Instructors need to use portable audio recorders and manually upload files. Multimedia staff will provide access to the server weblog or will enable file-sync software on instructor computer to automatically upload files. Steps:

  1. Request podcast for this course.
  2. Check out portable recorder from Multimedia office and record lectures
  3. Name recorded file and upload to podcast server

Informal Meeting/Teaching Spaces:

These rooms include instructor offices, Student Commons (outside or inside), library meeting rooms and other information meeting space.
